Tucked just inside the Cotswolds and not far from Chipping Norton, The Cotswold Guy has opened the most amazing restaurant, cafe and farm shop.  I have a wonderful friend who I meet up with regularly to try out a new cafe for breakfast and a good old catch up.  She suggested we try out The Cotswold Guy’s brand new venue that opened up late last year and I’m so glad she did.

Situated in a simple wooden building, as soon as I opened the doors I knew it was going to be a winner.  Natural wooden beams with twinkling lights, homey tables and comfy little nooks exude charm and warmth.

I had arrived a little early which gave me the chance to have a good nosey around first.  I ambled over to the counter and was immediately drawn to the wonderful array of cakes and pastries and started to debate whether I could skip breakfast and go straight for treats!

There were samples set out for the gluten free chocolate brownies.  They had the perfect blend of slight crunch from the outside, gooey inside and no compromise on taste.  The carrot cake was loaded and will defintely be on my must try next time I visit.

While the cakes were incredibly tempting, it was breakfast we were after.  Breakfast is served until noon and had healthy choices like charred pink grapefruit with yoghurt and granola or a hot porridge bowl.  However, my eye was drawn to the breakfast sandwich and my friend opted for the dirty breakfast bap.

The Dirty Breakfast Bap was loaded! Served in a brioche bap, there was a sausage patty, smoked streaky bacon and fried Cacklebean egg. Chipolte mayonnaise and cheddar cheese complemented perfectly.

I chose to have my breakfast sandwhich served in sourdough.  The best quality ingredients always make the best meals and even the condiments are top notch.  I should also give a shout out to the excellent service.  Friendly, genuine and attentive, we were made to feel really welcome.

The Cotswold Guy cafe serves breakfast and lunch everyday and they also have a special Friday Pizza Day, Saturday Steak Nights and Sunday Wellingtons & Roasts.  Plenty of reasons for me to keep going back! There’s isn’t a kids menu as such but I reckon my boys would love the Friday pizza night.
