Red Kite Reporter Kate Butcher visited Odds Farm last week for a family day out to check out the changes since the reopening last week and the new measures in place to keep everyone as safe as possible.
Odds Farm is back up and running and has adapted well to all of the social distancing and changes. Most of the farm is open, with all animals available to view and play areas running almost as normal. There are hand sanitising stations spaced at regular intervals and signs reminding you to maintain social distancing. Parents are asked to keep an eye that no more than 15 children are in the sand pit at one time. The tea room and coffee bar are operating a limited menu, and ordering and payment is through a new Odds Farm app, which is very easy and convenient. The app informed us that our food was ready well within 16 minutes estimated on the app when we ordered.
Visits are now by booking only. We received a warm welcome when we arrived, telling us about the changes throughout the farm, daily timings, and what to expect. As advised on the website, there were one way systems in place in certain parts of the farm, where this was possible, and staff were cleaning high use contact areas frequently.
The tractor ride was a highlight, with a very informative commentary, and Chicken World was delightful, for children and adults alike. Feeding the animals is always a highlight of any farm visit. Overall, the farm is kept very well, and it is clear that all of the staff take the greatest care to ensure that high standards are maintained throughout the experience.
