Lightwater Country Park is a brilliant open space to explore. There are some lovely walks and it’s a really peaceful place to spend time where you can really appreciate the countryside around you. There’s even an Easy Access Trail perfect for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
An adventure playground suitable for children aged from toddlers to twelve year olds. Play equipment includes swings, rope trails, balancing beams and a four metre high space net. The new playground features two multiplay units, pick up sticks climbing frame, activity net, various swings including a basket swing, an agility trail, and a musical drum.
There are plenty of benches and picnic tables situated inside the secure play area and also surrounding the park there are numerous other benches. If you fancy some refreshments then the cafe is perfectly located next to the play area which serves a selection of food and drinks plus ice creams.
After our park visit we decided to walk round the lakes and see if we could spot any wildlife, there were ducks and geese on the ponds, so it’s a good place to feed them. We also spotted a heron on the largest lake and was lovely to see the flowers and plants surrounding the lakes looking so pretty.
There are numerous benches situated around the lakes which are perfect if you need to take a break or just to sit and admire the view. A Bench of Hope has been installed overlooking Hammonds Pond, and those who visit the bench will be able to access mental health resources from CALM. It’s a great walk around the lake and you often see people fishing and the whole area is bursting with wildlife.
A new addition is Lightwater Adventure Golf, an 18 hole crazy golf course which looks like a lot of fun and has a wildlife theme to it. This is another great addition to Lightwater Country Park and is situated right by the entrance.
