Winter Woodland Lights at Hawk Conservancy Trust Review 2024

If you are missing the Christmas lights already then head down to see Winter Woodland Lights at the Hawk Conservancy Trust near Andover! Part light trail and part bird of prey show, this event runs until the end of January and is a truly unique experience for all the family.

🌟 On arrival at 6pm we were directed through the centre to begin the light trail. There is a restaurant on site where you can pick up something to eat or a hot drink to take with you on the trail. This is also where the toilets are so get the kids in there before you set off!!
🦉 We then headed off to follow the light trail which wound its way past the aviaries of the inhabitants of the centre. Lots of the birds of prey were still out and visible so we were able to enjoy them as well as the beautiful lights. We particularly loved the huge wings that you can take a picture with and the nesting boxes that lit up and played the call of the bird of prey that would nest there.
🌟 The trail takes about twenty minutes and leads you to the arena where the show takes place. As you enter you’ll notice some perches dotted around – the steward advised us to sit near one of them to get a great view of the birds during the show.
🦉 The show itself was spectacular. It felt like being immersed in a nature documentary. The show takes you around the world to different woodland habitats and its residents. The tress are lit up in spectacular ways throughout but it was the birds of prey that stole the show. It was a truly unique experience to sit in a dark woodland and watch an owl soar silently over your head.

✨ For me and my son this was a once in a lifetime experience, and one we will never forget. All the proceeds from the event go to support the birds of prey at the centre and birds of prey around the world. There are still some tickets available but act fast if you’d like to go along as I think this will be a sell out!

The event starts at 6:00pm or 8:00pm depending on which session you have booked. Feathers Restaurant will be open for food from 5:00pm.

Please note: the Trust is not open during the day before the event.  The Trust is closed during the day from Thursday 4 January to Friday 9 February 2024.

Book ahead and have something to look forward to in January!
