Family Friendly Coronation Events in Cheshire

The extra May bank holiday weekend celebrates the King’s Coronation with family friendly events happening right across Cheshire. Many of the coronation events are free with live music and entertainment.  After the coronation it will only be a few weeks until the schools holidays, check out the Cheshire May half term what’s on guide.

Coronation Weekend Kids Activities

Coronation fun at Castaway Play (Congleton) 6th – 8th May

Castaway Play will have a special 3 day coronation weekend event.  Make a King’s Crown and decorate to take home, meet Paddington Bear & King Bob Minion, each child will receive a Union Jack Flag & Coronation themed passport to take home, prizes for best fancy dress. Includes access to ALL play areas (Indoor & Outdoor)

Royal Treasure Hunt (Sandbach) until 10th May

Find the 40 pictures of Kings, Queens, Princes and Princesses located within the Town’s shops, pubs, eateries and Market Hall!  Pick up your treasure hunt forms in the Market Hall or participating venues.  Prizes will be awarded to the residents who find and identify the most pictures.

Kings Coronation event (Warrington) 6th May

Head to Warrington’s Time Square for a right royal knee’s up. Watch live coverage of the historical event on the outdoor screen and there will be live entertainment throughout the day.

Coronation family fun night (Alsager) 6th May



Gawsworth Village coronation celebrations 6th – 7th May

The procession and ceremony will be live – screened in the Village Hall from 10am – 2pm on Saturday: 6th May, free to all residents and refreshments will be served, followed by a Celidh in the Scout Hall for the evening. Sunday 7th May: Treasure Hunt, Fun, Games and BBQ on the Park, with a lunch in the Scout Hall for ticket holders.

Coronation fun at Lower Drayton Farm 6th May

The historic event be screened in the playbarn so you can watch King Charles III being crowned while the kids play, and they’ll get to make their very own crown in the craft corner!

Middlewich coronation family fun day 6th May

The free family fun day will run 12-6pm in Market Field and the Wych Centre.   There be a disco, bouncy castle, colouring and crown making, games, large screen to watch the celebrations, fire engine, classic cars and more.

Free creative coronation activities at Grosvenor Museum (Chester) 6th May

Drop in anytime between 10:30 and 12pm to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III. Create your own crown and dress up as royals through time!

Coronation Picnic in the Park (Crewe) 7th May

To celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen Consort, the Crewe Friends of Queens Park will be holding a FREE Coronation event in the Park.  Live music from local bands from 1pm (NSS Band, Acrylic, Tumbling Dice, Crewe Concert Band)  Bring your own picnic and join in the fun!  2- 6pm (music from 1pm)

South Park Coronation Party (Macclesfield) 7th May

Running from 12-6pm South Park in Macclesfield will celebrate the coronation with an afternoon of live music provided by local acts Gemma and the Voicebox and Joel Gardner.

Mayor’s Coronation Tea Party (Macclesfield) 8th May

Macclesfield Town Council is holding a tea party in Market Place on Monday 8th May, 11am-3pm. There’ll be music, dancing plus free tea and cake for the first 600 visitors. Cake is being supplied by three of our amazing local bakers

Coronation Celebration (Wilmslow) 7th May

From 12pm – 4pm, there will be a big community Coronation celebration in Bank Square and the surrounding areas. Activities and entertainment will include Punch and Judy, Crazy Golf, crafts and funfair-style games with events spanning across Bank Square, Grove Street, Green Lane and Hawthorn Lane.

Arley Hall & Gardens Coronation Party (7th May)

Have a picnic under the bunting at the festively decorated tables in the stable yard at Arley Hall & Gardens.  You can bring your own picnic or food bought from The Gardener’s Kitchen Café to enjoy outside at your table. Live music

Congleton Park coronation celebrations 8th May

A huge picnic and family fun day in the beautiful surroundings of Congleton Park. Communities, neighbours, friends, and groups across Congleton are invited to gather together for an enjoyable afternoon of music and entertainment.
