Cycling Road Safety Course for Children
12 April, 2021 @ 10:30 am - 16 April, 2021 @ 12:00 pm
£25Supported by the volunteers at Farcycles, children have the chance to learn road safety during the Easter holidays.
Many children receive Bikeability training (Cycle Proficiency as it used to be called) during Year 6, but not all schools offer it.
These 90 minute sessions are aimed at giving young people, between the ages of 9 and 13, who can already ride confidently, improved awareness of road safety and more confidence to cycle on the roads.
We start by teaching the skills that are required for negotiating junctions in the traffic-free environment of the Faringdon Cycle Park and later in the week, if the group is progressing well, we move to the quiet residential roads nearby. We also teach aspects of the Highway Code that are relevant to cyclists.
The teachers on the course have all received training equivalent to Bikeability and are DBS-checked.
The course charge is £25 per child for the whole course.
