Cotswold Lavender opens to visitors for just a few weeks a year, usually from late June until almost the end of July when the blooms at their peak. A third generation family farm, they have been growing lavender since 1999, now with over 40 varieties and 140 miles of rows.
The Lavender Fields will reopen on Friday 14th June to to Sunday 4th August 2024 with the peak flowering time in July.
I visited with my boys the first day of the the 2020 opening on a warm sunny day. It was popular spot for all ages but people dissipated quickly through the rows so we had plenty of space to explore.
There are essentially three great things to with kids at Cotswold Lavender. Walking, photo opps and chilling out with a picnic and the new Beechwood Trail. The main attraction is of course just exploring and wandering up and down the lavender rows. With a gentle warm breeze, it’s a wonderfully fragrant walk ambling along with a purple haze all around.
As well as the stunning Lavender fields they also have the Beechwood Trail and Wildflower Meadows. This area has been opened up to provide a welcoming natural outdoor environment for children and their adults to explore and play in an unstructured way which promotes creativity and imagination.
One of the big attractions for visitors is photography. If you’re a professional visiting for for commercial purposes as a photo shoot location or to run a course then you’ll need to register and pay for a pass in advance. Regular iphone snappers with the kids like me don’t need to pay for any extra! My boys took it in turns to take photos of the flowers, landscape pictures and each other and I also managed to persuade them to sit relatively still to for me to take photos of them. It’s pretty much impossible to get three boys to sit still without poking each other and smile at the same time.
There are picnic tables dotted around the fields, perfect to extend your visit by bringing lunch with you. There’s also a takeaway cafe with drinks, snacks and deliciously yummy ice cream. They even have lavender flavour!

Finding Cotswold Lavender Fields
Cotswold Lavender farm is set in the beautiful Cotswold countryside, tucked into Worcestershire but close to the borders of Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. As you approach the village of Snowshill, keep an eye out for brown tourist signs marked for Snowshill Lavender. This must have been an old name for Cotswold Lavender and is the same place. There’s plenty of parking on site.
