If you aren’t in the know then you may not have ever noticed Bachelor’s Acre play area in Windsor. Despite it being right in the centre of the town, it’s tucked away out of sight behind the main shopping streets. It’s location, however, makes it the perfect place to take the kids for a run around on a visit to Windsor and the park features a small play area, large grass area to play and a splash pad. You could also combine with the Windsor Queen’s Walk.
You’ll find Bachelors Acre a couple of minutes walk from Peascod Steet, the main shopping street in Windsor, and close to Windsor Library. The play park itself has a good range of equipment for children aged between 3 and 8. In the park you will find a mini play house, see-saw, a castle to climb, swings and a couple of good climbing structures with slides.
There’s plenty here to keep my two boys entertained for a good period of time. The equipment itself is all sound but could do with a bit of tlc at the time of writing (August 2024).
At Bachelor’s Acre you’ll also find a large area of grass which is ideal for a picnic or some ball games plus a splash pad with lots of mini fountains which operates in the summer months. There are also toilet facilities, including baby change available.
Parking is always tricky in Windsor, being generally busy and expensive, so this one to head to if you can reach it on foot or already plan to be in the area to enjoy the town. If you are looking to park nearby, then the library has a car park and the Victoria Street Car Park is also close by.
Bachelor’s Acre is also a short walk to the Long Walk leading up to Windsor Castle and around ten minutes walk from the river front, so there is plenty to do in the area for a full day of fun.
